The Georgian Bay Photography Club will meet on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in Collingwood at the Chartwell Georgian Traditions Retirement Residence (Theatre Room) at 57 Trott Blvd. starting at 6:30 pm. Our guest speaker will be Tannis Toohey and the topic will be "Documentary Photography".

Tannis Toohey has been working as a photojournalist for the last 21 years. Tannis studied photography at the Western Academy of Photography, in Victoria, BC. Capturing the school's title of best photojournalist also landed her a coveted internship at the Calgary Herald which soon led to work for the Medicine Hat News, and The Calgary Herald eventually returning home to Toronto to shoot for the Canadian Press wire service, the Globe and Mail, National Post, Maclean's magazine, and USA Today.

She has contributed to PhotoSensitive projects, and recently left the Toronto Star photography department after 16 years of covering sports, news, fashion and feature stories. Her photographs have appeared in magazines, books, exhibitions, CD covers, and have won local and national awards. Toronto Star article, April, 29. 2016.

There is a cost of $10 for non-members but free to members. Also included will be an overview of the November's competition categories People: General and Nature: Animals.

Our club's objectives are;
